Using mathematics to understand the diseases of the brain

My research focuses on using mathematical models to study brain diseases.

I use tools from dynamical systems theory, network science, and Bayesian inference to understand the progression of disease and its impact on brain function.

This includes modeling the spreading of toxic proteins throughout the brain in Alzheimer’s disease, modeling the impact of brain tumors on neuronal firing, and investigating the roots of regional vulnerability in Parkinson’s disease.

My background

I am currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Complex Systems Lab at UPenn led by Prof. Dani Bassett. I completed my PhD in Mathematics at the University of Oxford under the supervision of Prof. Alain Goriely and Prof. Christian Bick. My doctoral training was funded by Aker Scholarship. I completed my Msc in Biotechnology at NTNU under the supervision of Prof. Eivind Almaas.
